Global Programs

ORT Is Worldwide
From India to South Africa, from the nations of Latin America to every part of Israel, from the reemerging Jewish communities of Russia and Eastern Europe to New York City. ORT schools are role models in developing and advanced societies on every continent.

ORT's International Cooperation Department, working with other agencies and private foundations, supports economic and social development initiatives in nations around the world. By providing education and resources to communities in countries including Albania, Mexico and the Philippines, the local populations learn about health, nutrition, transportation and rural development.

ORT Israel is the flagship of the world ORT network with a school in every major town and city. In 1949, ORT set the stage for technological and vocational training in Israel. Today, nearly 100,000 students are currently enrolled in 138 schools and one in four of Israel's total work force has been educated in an ORT school or program. These graduates are the force behind Israel's booming technology industry and economy. ORT Israel's school database can give you information on a specific ORT Israel school.

Former Soviet Union
The 22 ORT schools and centers in the former Soviet Union actively participate in Jewish life. In places like Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vilinius and Kishiniev, ORT programs are bringing high-tech education and Judaic studies to the community.

U.S. Operations
ORT Operations USA serves students all around America. At ORT's three technical schools in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, students take courses in business, computer programming, accounting and electronics. Students at Jewish day schools in Miami, Atlanta and Cleveland use computers supplied by ORT in all areas of instruction.

ORT is using the World Wide Web to enhance Jewish education. Through ORTnet, ORT's address on the Internet, ORT resources can now be accessed by Jewish communities all over the world.

The Twelve Tribes Project established ORT Technology Learning Centers, equipped with computers and software, in Jewish schools and community centers in 22 locations in the former Soviet Union. ORTnet is their link to the larger Jewish world.

Navigating the Bible lets anyone with a computer and access to the Internet study the Five Books of Moses. This groundbreaking program lets you read the text in Hebrew, Hebrew transliteration, English, Spanish and Russian translations and hear the text sung by a cantor.
