A: ORT is the acronym for Organization for Educational Resources and Technological Training.

Q: What does ORT do? What is its purpose?

A: ORT (WAO's parent organization) provides educational, technological and vocational training in a Jewish environment to students in over 60 countries. Our worldwide effort has helped educate and train over 3 million people, enabling them to become economically self-sufficient and lead lives full of dignity. ORT is the largest nonprofit, non-governmental network of vocational education and technological training in the world.

Women's American ORT, through the tireless efforts of our members and volunteers, raises money for the ORT program. Our funding helps ORT schools remain open and up-to-date with the most state-of-the-art technological equipment. WAO is a major component of the ORT success story. Q. Can I make a donation online and is it secure?

A: Yes, you may make a secure online donation by visiting our Donation page. If you are not comfortable using your credit card online, you may also print out a donation form and mail it directly to WAO with your check.

Q. Is my donation tax deductible?

A: Yes, WAO is a non-profit organization.

Q: Can I make a donation and/or contribution in honor or in memory of someone?

A: Donations and Contributions in the name of a loved one can be sent to individual chapters or directly to the National Office. Please contact our office at 800.51.WAORT for more information or make an online donation.

Q: How do I get more information on matching gifts?

A: Matching Gifts are handled in the Fund Development department. For information, contact the National Office at 800.51.WAORT, ext. 235.

Q: How can I become a member of Women's American ORT?

A: Presently it costs $36 to become a member. You can apply online at our Membership page, or contact the Member Services Administrator Soretta Rodack in the National Office ext. 267.

Q: How can I become a Life Member?

A: For $500 (or pay two installments of $250 over two years) you can make a lifetime commitment to Women's American ORT. You can join right now using our online membership applicationor by contacting our national offices.

Q. What are the benefits of Life Membership?

A: In addition to the standard benefits of membership, you will receive special recognition, a "Lifetime Member" pin with a certificate, and invitations to national and local events. Visit our Membership pageto become a Lifetime Member or call 800.51.WAORT. Q: Who can I contact in my area for information on meetings and/or activities?

A: Your local Chapter President, Area Development Consultant (ADC), or the WAO Region Office in your area will have information on meeting places and activities. If you do not know the name of the Chapter President, ADC, or Region Office in your area, you may call the National Office at 800.51.WAORT during office hours. The Member Services Administrator can look up this information for you.

Q: What materials/supplies are available? Who do I contact to request or purchase materials/supplies?

Q: Is it possible to request a speaker for an upcoming event? If so, how?

Q: I am not a member but receive mail from your organization. Can you please remove my name from your mailing list?

A: If you are receiving unwanted mail from WAO, please contact the data entry department and ask that your name be removed. You may also email us at .

Q: Where are the ORT schools in the US located? How can I arrange a visit and tour?

A: There are three ORT schools in the United States:
• Bramson ORT College in Brooklyn and Forest Hills, New York
• The Los Angeles ORT Technical Institute (LAOTI) in California
• Zarem/Golde ORT Technical Institute in Chicago, Illinois.

A: You can request a subscription to The Reporter, or become a Women's American ORT member and receive The Reporter free. Use this subscription form.

Q: Does Women's American ORT offer insurance for their members?
