The new ORT Brazil Experimental Center for Environmental Education (CEDEA) was inaugurated amid much fanfare in a recent ceremony. Located in Petropolis, about 44 miles from Rio, this center is a unique project for teaching natural sciences to youngsters in the field. Authorities, institutional representatives, officers, teachers and students of ORT Institute of Technology in Rio were present to celebrate the pioneering center.

The center is placed on more than 200 acres, with forests, rivers, lakes and facilities for both boys and girls. Specially designed for studies and research in ecology and environmental education, it boasts a science and technology lab, a preparation room, two storerooms for materials and chemicals, and an area for external experiments.

The project, funded by ORT Brazil, World ORT and the Henrique Lemle Summer Camp, will serve as an advanced campus for ORT schools, giving campers the opportunity to conduct simple experiments related to environmental studies.
