As an integral part of Jewish life, Women’s American ORT is involved in community events both on the national scene as well as at the chapter level. We encourage you to participate in Jewish community activities, representing WAO, its mission and its goals. Not only is it a wonderful way to publicize who we are and what we do, but it also can result in valuable joint efforts between organizations with mutual interests. Some ongoing community activities in which Women’s American ORT participates at the chapter level include ORT Shabbat and Adopt-A-Shelf.

• ORT Shabbat: Tradition with a Twist provides an opportunity for Women’s American ORT members to represent WAO in the synagogues, publicizing the scope and mission of the organization. Customize Shabbat and enhance the visibility of Women's American ORT in your congregation and community.
• Adopt-A-Shelf has chapter members collecting new books and donating them to a local site of their choice (e.g., school or municipal library, assisted living facility, day-care center). Bookplate stickers, inserted inside the books, promote Women's American ORT's involvement in the campaign and are available through the National Office.
